customer replication issue from ECC to CRM

Hi Friends,

 

My issue is the customers those created in ECC are not getting replicated to CRM as the ECC number range will not fall in CRM number range, so I am planning to change the number range in CRM which matches with ECC number range, since in ECC the number range is external and created internal number range in CRM, mapped and test this, but in this case I am getting different customer number in CRM (customer number is not identical in both systems) and then tried by creating external number range in CRM and checked, in this case I am getting the same number in CRM(customer number is same in both systems). Please suggested me on this whether its best practice or will there be any impact in future if we use external number range in both systems(ECC and CRM). Here we replicating customers from ECC to CRM. Please let me if there is any alternative way or best practice to get identical number in both systems in this case as we cannot change number range in ECC and supposed to create number range only in CRM. Please help me on this.
